The Khanka Farm, built in 1955 , is away from the Mishan City about 95 km in the southeast. The farm covers the total land area of 114,115.4 hectare , including the cultivated land of 26,939.23 hectare , water area of 43,506.07 hectare, and wetland of 696.07 hectare. It faces Russia across the Song'acha River in the east and south, against the small and big Khanka Lake in the west and adjacent to the Farm No. 856 and No. 857 in the north.

The Khanka Farm's total population now reaches 21,464. With the several generations of farmers' efforts on the exploitation, the farm has become the state important marketable grain base featuring with the all-round development of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, side-line production and fishery, the flourish and up growth of industry, commerce, transportation, building industry and trade, and the combination of science, education, culture, heath and physical exercise, in where the annual total yield of grain and bean reaches 177,500 ton, including the overall paddy rice production of 174,500 ton. The total output value of the farm is RMB 34.65 million yuan; the gross output value of non state-owned economy is up to RMB 132 million yuan; and the added value of animal husbandry is RMB 8.06 million yuan.

Surrounded by the water in the four sides, with abundant resources and fresh air, plus the pollution-free, fertile quality of soil, and rich organic content in the surface water, the Khanka Farm has become the best ecological environment available to produce the high quality rough rice.

Tere are the beautiful natural landscapes in the Khanka Farm in where the big Khanka Lake is wide as sea, and the small Khanka Lake is with the mist-covered waters like some strips. The rare trees stand in great numbers near the bank of lake, and there are a lot of big whitefish in the lake. And the 340,000-mu wetland in the reserve has become the "kingdom" of swan, egret and other rare birds in where they live and reproduce. The beautiful lake and landscape bring you such immense leisure and recreation that you enjoy yourself so much as to forget to leave. It is a well-known tourist resort.

The farm is located at the bank of big and small Khanka Lakes--the country-level natural reserves, and enjoys exceptional geographical advantages and beautiful natural landscapes. In order to implement the beautiful scenery, clean environment, green land, blue sky, green hills and clear waters, in recent years, the farm has paid more and more attention to the country-level ecological sample area construction work, especially since the year 2000, with the help of the "Khanka Farm's Country-level Ecological Sample Area Construction Program", the farm has completed the forest plantation of more than 650 hectare (including: the 330 hectare of land returning for farming to forestry) within the lasted three years, and the 2,000 hectare of land returning to wetland.

At the same time, the farm has also taken the ecological economical theory which combines the ecology and economics as its guide to forge a multi-level, multifunctional ecological structure. The implementation of the sustainable development strategy on one base (stable green food production base), two industries (the developing paddy rice processing industry, and advanced paper manufacturing industry) and three benign circulations (the major and secondary agricultural, rice and paper products circulation and comprehensive utilization) has made the farm's economy enter into the sustainable high-speed development phase and coordinate with the natural economy.
